Artists: Ellie Harrison

"For a matter of minutes an air of chaos envelopes the space as popcorn explodes frantically onto thefloor. Then all goes quiet again... until the next crisis occurs"

Popcorn machines, massage chairs and a dancing cola can are the vehicles that Ellie Harrison uses to illustrate and explore the recent history of capitalism and our role within it. Visit the exhibition, help yourself to the fresh popcorn being made to track the history of global financial crises, or indulge in a free massage from one of the chairs in A Brief History of Privatisation, an installation that animates the ongoing oscillations between public and private ownership in the UK.

Join us for a special introduction to the exhibition by two-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Josie Long, kicking off the exhibition in her inimitable style, and continuing her collaboration with Ellie.

“Young, female and politically active, Josie Long and Ellie Harrison are two rising stars of the comedy and visual art scenes whose work squarely and firmly punches the state of the nation in the face."
