Shakespearean Public Announcements

Shakespearean Public Announcements

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please...

Listen very carefully in Newcastle and Gateshead this Autumn. Whether doing the weekly shop or waiting for a bus, the public service announcements that we hear every day might just have a Shakespearean twist.

To celebrate the Royal Shakespeare Company’s residency in Newcastle this year, the RSC, Fierce! Festival and Wunderbar have teamed up to create a series of everyday announcements with a recognisable nod to the Bard’s distinctive style. Some of the announcements will be written by an RSC writer but others will be developed by you, the audience, as part of a workshop programme - see details below. And we are also looking for your ideas as part of our  open call. To find out more and submit your ideas go here

What would it be like if we all spoke English the way Shakespeare did?... expect to find out very soon, in a lift, supermarket or bus near you...
