Wunderbar Starts Here

Wunderbar takes you heads first into the festival, with a night full of show stopping ideas, and thought provoking performances.

The evening begins with two live events at Gallery North followed by Come on, Vogue, a night of being seen, showing off and walking the walk.

We start at Gallery North, where Jane Arnfield performs The Gymnast, her acclaimed one woman piece set in the 1970's at the time of the Khmer Rouge genocide that explores issues of loss and trauma and the very human need to speak in order to lay the past to rest.

Anat Ben David's avant garde take on pop music will get your blood pumping in In Experimental Pop

Both performances have limited capacaities so get there early to ensure your place.

To reach Come On, Vogue!, Wunderbar’s take on the 1980s New York vogue ball phemomenon, you’ll be led from Gallery North to the secret party location* where the runway will be lit ready for you to stand up and be noticed, or stand back and watch as others take to the floor in their own inimitable style.

*We are taking over the basement of the John Dobson Street car park in Newcastle for the evening. If you can't make the procession, come in through the pedestrian entrance on John Dobson Street and down the stairs where the party will start at 8pm. We're bringing the lights, the sound and the drink, you bring the glam and your fake furs to keep warm. Spread the word, but if you tell anyone where you heard it we will be after you...

Come on, Vogue has been developed for Wunderbar by Harriet Plewis and Susie Green
